Graduate Students Dissertation Fellowship (Spring)- The Gipson Institute expects to award one fellowship annually to a PhD candidate enrolled at Lehigh University for dissertation research and writing in any field of eighteenth-century studies. The fellowship is for one academic year and includes a stipend of approximately $23,000.
Research Grants - The Council of the Institute reviews proposals for research grants from Lehigh faculty and students in October and March of each year. Grants are for a maximum of $2,500. Funds may be used to defray travel cost to libraries and manuscript depositories, copying, and other expenses directly related to research.

Recent projects funded by the Gipson Institute include research on the suffering in English women's literature during the Romantic Era; the rise of evangelicalism in the American South; crime and punishment in eighteenth century Pennsylvania; gender politics in coming-of-age novels in the Atlantic World; art and politics in the Trans-Atlantic world; and the impact of legal codes and culture on slavery in the French Caribbean.
