New Directions in Eighteenth-Century Research

An interdisciplinary research institute dedicated to the study of anything and everything related to the “long eighteenth century.”

Welcome to the Gipson Institute

The Lawrence Henry Gipson Institute for Eighteenth-Century Studies, named in honor of the renowned historian and Lehigh professor Lawrence Henry Gipson, is a place for scholars across disciplines to explore and discover the world of the eighteenth century. We sponsor fellowships, host public events with distinguished experts, and support interdisciplinary research in multiple areas of eighteenth century studies.
